Raleigh Round 1

Some of you might know, Raleigh is one of my favorite cities. There is so much to do! There are lots of unique restaurants, coffee shops, concert venues, parks, trails and so much more. While this was a busy weekend for me, I was able to stop and enjoy some eats and treats at a few new places!

Friday night we made a giant cheese board which included sharp cheddar, a flavorful parmesan, a Black Pepper BellaVitano, (highly recommended) and a peppered salami with some classic Wheat Thins and Good Thins. It was the perfect little happy hour (or four!) snack with our not fully pictured homemade gin and tonics (blackberry & mint, strawberry & basil).

Saturday was a busy day but of course there was time for a drink! I enjoyed my first trip to World of Beer where I was ecstatic to see they had my favorite beer!

I get excited every time I see Avery Brewing when I’m out. They have a variety of beers — IPAs, sours, brown ales, lagers — you name it, they have it. The Liliko’i Kepolo is a light white ale and packed with passionfruit flavor. Another favorite is their El Gosé (reminds me of a margarita) and Cucumber Hibiscus Sour, which is a barrel aged sour and super refreshing!

We then grabbed a bite to eat at Yard House in North Hills where I was overwhelmed with the amount of choices, but ended up with the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and Sweet Potato Fries. The chicken was indeed hot and crispy. I could have used a little more spicy flavor, it was a very bland slaw, but the chicken itself was good.

My last meal, and probably my favorite was Sunday morning breakfast. I was in the mood for a good coffee and bagel so we went to Benelux Coffee in Cameron Village. I got a caramel latte and a breakfast bagel. The latte was amazing and my bagel had the perfect amount of everything. The eggs were light and fluffy, the bacon nice and crispy, and the cheese, well, how can you go wrong with cheese? Did I mention how nice the staff was here? Very kind people all around.

I’m headed back to Raleigh very shortly and would love to hear your favorite spots, but specifically breakfast spots this time! Until then, bon appetit!
